After watching the trailer,
I had immediately put this on my calendar, as I’m not much of reader I had
little idea that this season was based on a book series but one thing I was
sure of that this season would fulfill all that harry potter cravings for me. I
have been waiting to watch a good Magic, Adventure and Drama series for quite
the time now. As they as The Wheel of time turns, and ages come and pass
leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth and even myth is long
forgotten till the age that gave it birth comes again. It is a story which began thousands of years
ago when a man whom the people named dragon thought he could defeat the dark
one the enemy of all creation with one power but even in defeat dark one’s
counterstroke corrupted the male half of the one power only the female half of
that power remained pure. Women who could wield it were known as ‘Aessedai’.
Now this story begins again eons later in the two rivers where Moiraine an Aessedai
arrives in the village with her wader lan, a warrior bonded to her with the hope
to find the dragon reborn. The dragon reborn who's prophesied to either save
the world or break it again. Who will the chosen one become the five stubborn younglings
Egwin, Rand, Perin, Matt and Nayeve. It is now up to her and her wader to lead
the young heroes through dangers and evil lurking in the shadows, through
cursed worlds and uncertain waters. The world they must travel is broken in
fractions it has the ‘White Ones’ who police the land as if every single person
serves the dark one. These White Ones become
Judge Jury and executioner. These divisions are spreading the shadow upon the land
and the dark one is wrecking from his prison. But one of the chosen 5 must stand the ground the
dragon reborn. Will they jump in the light or serve the dark it is a story of
an age long past and age yet to come of a battle which has been fought
countless times by countless people with countless outcomes. But it was not the beginning, there are no beginnings,
no endings to the wheel of time but it was evening. After watching the whole
season one there are still Questions unanswered but as I heard that there are 14
hefty books of the Wheel of Time, I can say that this journey would be the next
Games of Thrones level. Behind all the mystic aura they have created with one
of the most complex yet breath taking magic systems, I really enjoyed the simpler
things too in the series like the friendship among the younglings, how they
built trust for Moraine. Coming to the cinematography part I highly enjoyed the
scene where a wader grieves for his Aessedai, those graves dug in a circle, the
wailing, the tribal chants all fitted swiftly into the scene plus it was able
to explain the relationship of a wader with their Aessedai very clearly. This bond
between a Wader and Aessedai as explained is stronger than husband and wife really
comes through as the season precedes. One thing which took me by surprise was
cameo of the professor if you’re a money heist fan you would know which
professor I am talking about exactly and yes, he made quite a cameo in the
season but as a false dragon. Overall I really enjoyed the season personally
and now I am one of those who are impatiently waiting for the next season to
come, but I really hope they don’t take much time for squeals as they did when
they were publishing the books it took them years to do that. And for another
spoiler we still don’t know exactly who the dragon reborn is from the five chosen
one, plus there are possibilities that they all five can be the dragon reborn
so stay tune for the next season to find out.
